Glass House Mountains – Print
$60 – $200 ex GST
Designed for you to pop straight into a frame! The Sunshine Coast Series is stylistically influenced by the retro travel poster! I’ve created graphic inspired digital art capturing my local travel experiences throughout Coolum Beach and the surrounding Sunshine Coast region of Queensland.
The Glass House Mountains, are a cluster of thirteen hills that rise abruptly from the coastal plain on the Sunshine Coast. This simple graphic styled illustration was inspired after a beautiful hike to the summit of Mt Ngungun (said as N Gun Gun) and the stunning view looking toward Mt Coonowrin (Crookneck) and Mt Beerwah, the tallest of the hills, standing at 556 m.
Located near Beerburrum State Forest and Steve Irwin Way the heritage listed mountains are formed by volcanic activity and molten rock. Named by explorer James Cook in 1770, the hills were called the “Glass House Mountains” because the peaks reminded the Lieutenant of the glass furnaces in his home county of Yorkshire.
“Glass House Mountains” captures a sunset view of Mt Coonowrin (Crookneck) and Mt Beerwah looking west from the summit of Mt Ngungun, the 6th tallest mountain.
