Vintage Travel Posters Melbourne: Art and Travel – It’s A Love Connection

This is where I drew my inspiration from for the vintage travel posters Melbourne and other international locations. When we think about travelling, most of us want an authentic travel experience and if you love both art and travel… you can enjoy both! We want to experience travel like a local, and discover the essence – the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality, character and beauty – of why a place is unique and celebrated.

One of my favourite things to do when travelling is to connect with ‘the locals,’ the people of the town or city I am in who have history and stories to tell. Whether it’s a conversation with a local brasserie shop owner in Rochefort-en-Terre discussing the towns 16th century architecture, and indulging in a classic French pastry; or discussing the latest street art project about to be revealed by local artists from one of Melbourne’s iconic city laneways; no matter where you are, mixing with ‘the locals’ is a quintessential experience!

During the quest to discovering a new place, it can be our love of art which helps us gain an authentic learning of culture and history. The vintage travel posters Melbourne follow on from that learning. In fact, art and travel contrarily have a love connection! It is travel that allows us to first discover, and the arts which can tell stories in the most quaint or dramatic setting, enabling us to see the real beauty of culture!

The experience of local art and design may provide us with an opportunity to learn from another culture, and gain a deeper cultural understanding of the country we visit. Your travels may take you to The Uffizi Gallery in Florence to discover the art of iconic masterpieces completed around the Italian Renaissance period; or indulging in Pakistan’s rich history in all the visual arts traditionally created by local village peoples; and learning that ceramics and glazed pottery are among the oldest art forms in Pakistan. Or perhaps taking in one of the most authentic local art expressions, the history of a city can be seen in ‘Street Arts.’ Wherever you are, discovering the rich beauty of culture and history through art is a magical way to learn about our world.

Imagine the flourishing creativity that comes through travelling by discovering local art in your journey! As a visual artist, I’m constantly looking for inspiration, and the surrounding environments so often influence my work. Travel is an eye-opening experience for anyone. From an artistic perspective to me the world and its places are like a canvas. New places trigger fresh outlooks and enriching moments which drives my passion to create travel-related art!

“To travel is to live” said Hans Christian Anderson. And as we step forward through life some of our greatest stories, our most cherished memories and countless irreplaceable learnings will continue, be treasured and remembered from travel. It’s no surprise with people travelling far less this past year or more, due to the global pandemic our world has faced, that people have sought travel-related art to remind them of the journeys not taken and reignite their sense of adventure. Pandemic or not, travel art is popular! Travel posters, travel prints and travel photography along with canvas art continue to serve as a delightful reminder of happy times, holidays, honeymoons, and historic periods of travel in time! And surrounding ourselves with happy memories has been proven to positively changing our mood and therefore our attitude to life!

Simone

Hello my name is Simone Wolowiec. Here's some background on my love of art... and my fine art prints Australia. Passion for art began for me after retiring as a professional athlete in 2006. I hadn't picked up a paintbrush since I was a kid, but excitement and a curiosity for transforming a blank canvas into an imaginative scene led me to take art classes in my home city of Melbourne, Australia.
